We joined the Whole-Family Programme in May and I genuinely did not know what to expect. The facilitator was calm and made it easy to take part without feeling put on the spot. What I noticed after the first two sessions was that our kids started asking before interrupting — small shift, but it changed how dinner conversations felt.

We are a multigenerational home — my parents, my wife, and I — and we had a lot of conversations that went in circles. The Shared Planner Toolkit helped more than I expected. We finally have one place where everyone can see what is happening next week without asking three different people. The setup session was practical and quick.

I was a little sceptical that a half-day workshop would change anything significant. But the Fair Turns structure gave our teenager a clear way to hold the floor, and it gave us a way to step back without it feeling like giving up. We have kept using the turn-taking card at home. Straightforward and useful.

We are not a large household — just two of us — but we kept having the same conversation about who was handling which tasks, and neither of us had a clear picture. The planner session sorted that. The facilitator was helpful and did not try to tell us how to run our home, just helped us set up the system.

Five sessions across five weeks was the right pace. We had time to actually try things between sessions and come back with honest feedback on what worked and what did not. Our household is large and noisy — this gave us a structure that held without being rigid. I appreciated that the facilitators did not try to fix us.

The workshop was good and the planner has helped. I would say the biggest thing we took away was just having language we all agreed on — it sounds small, but calling something a "turn" instead of arguing about who is interrupting made a real difference. Worth the morning.

In More Detail

Household stories

A closer look at how three households used Roundkin programmes — what they came with, what they did, and what they noticed afterwards.

The challenge

A household of five — two parents and three children aged 8 to 16 — found that family discussions were consistently dominated by the two older members. The youngest children had stopped trying to contribute. Weekly planning meetings had faded out because nobody felt heard.

What they did

The family joined the Whole-Family Communication Programme. Over five sessions, they developed a shared vocabulary for turn-taking, set up the Shared Planner so all five members could see and add to the week's plans, and practised the communication habits between sessions at home.

What changed

By session three, the family reported that their 10-year-old had started contributing regularly to evening conversations. The household planning meetings resumed and ran without the earlier tension. The changes held through the following month.

"We did not expect our youngest to get as much out of it as she did. But she picked up the turn-taking faster than any of us."
— Parent participant, Nonthaburi · Programme completed June 2025

The challenge

A household of three adults — a couple and an elderly parent — had accumulated separate lists, paper calendars, and phone reminders that none of them shared. Important appointments were missed. Routine tasks fell to the same one person by default.

What they did

They attended a Shared Planner Toolkit session. During the walkthrough, all three members set up their sections of the shared household planner together. The facilitator helped them identify which routines to record first and how to keep the system maintained without it becoming another task for one person.

What changed

The shared planner became the household's single reference point within the first week. Three months after the session, all three adults were contributing to it regularly. No missed appointments in the two months following setup.

"We had tried apps before and they never stuck. The physical planner with a walkthrough worked better for our household because everyone could see and touch it."
— Participant, Bang Khen · Toolkit session May 2025

The challenge

Two parents with a 14-year-old found that conversations about household decisions had become tense, particularly around the teenager's growing independence. The parents wanted a way to include their child more genuinely in planning, without simply giving over control.

What they did

The family of three attended the Fair Turns Workshop. The structured turn-taking format gave their teenager a clear method for holding and passing the floor. The parents learnt to signal a turn rather than simply waiting for a gap in conversation.

What changed

Household conversations about plans — weekends, schedules, decisions — became more balanced. The teenager reported feeling less talked-at and more included. The family used the take-home card to refer back to the turn-taking technique in the weeks after the workshop.

"The workshop gave all three of us a shared way to handle conversations. That is different from just trying to be fairer — it is a method you can return to."
— Parent participant, Pak Kret · Workshop June 2025
